Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Soy sauce
Appropriate sample pretreatment is required for SEM measurement of biological samples. In the case of lactic acid bacteria extracted from liver, it is difficult to effectively observe lactic acid bacteria because of salt crystals when the liver evaporates and is concentrated. Therefore, a clearer image can be obtained only after analysis after cultivation in an incubator for a certain period of time after extraction.
Wood Bio-chips
Wood Bio-chips plant Thermopile microorganism in wood chips, which are then used to fertilize food waste after cultivation. Based on the characteristics of food waste, which decomposes food waste in a wood-biochip by cultivating it in a medium, according to its characteristics in a high pH environment with high concentration of salt. This microorganism is the so-called fermentation-extinguishing technology, which is patented by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation Research Institute.

Onion Skin
Onion Skin: Biological samples must undergo proper pretreatment to maintain their intrinsic structure due to the high proportion of water in the sample. This pretreatment process leads to the extraction, fixation, cleaning, and dehydration of the sample. The image below shows the difference in the cell structure of onion skin depending on the use of coolstage in the SEM. If the sample is cooled and observed through SEM equipped with COXEM’s coolstage, rapid and effective observation is possible without complicated wet pretreatment and damage to the sample.
